The town of Bagha Purana is situated in the Moga district of the state of Punjab. Its location is at a distance of 19 km south of the district Moga. It is a municipal council. The location of the town is very prominent as it is situated on the main road that connects the city of Faridkot and Moga. The town Bagha Purana is divided into 3 sections i.e. Bagha Patti, Muglu Patti and Purana Patti. Amongst the three Muglu Patti is the biggest section. The standard of living is quite high as large number of economically richer section of the society is settled in this town of Punjab. The town was home to some great personalities one of them being Major Malkit SIngh Brar. He was the second in the country to be awarded the highest decoration award of the country i.e. the Mahavir Chakra. He had served the army and laid down his life when there was a war between India and Pakistan in the year 1948.
History of Bagha Purana
Bagha Purana once was a small village located at the intersection of Mudki-Nihal Singh Wala road and Moga- Kot Kapura road. With the establishment of Government Polytechnic in Village road just few kilometers away from the village, the name of Bagha Purana became prominent. It has now developed into an important town and also a trade center for the many villages that are located around it. The status of town was given to the village when in year 1974 Nagar Panchayat was formed. After this the town became a Municipal council too. Further in the year 2000, it became the sub divisional headquarters which led to the establishment of many important offices in the region.Economy of Bagha Purana
Previously most of the people of the town were dependent on agriculture. Several agricultural crops were grown here.
